"On December 14, 2010, Rome became the scene of clashes between protesters and law enforcement. This coincided with a crucial day for Italian politics: the Berlusconi government obtained a vote of confidence in Parliament. Outside the institutions, thousands of people, mainly students, were protesting against government policies and the Gelmini reform.
Initially peaceful demonstrations turned into violent clashes in the afternoon. Protesters threw blunt objects, smoke bombs, and bottles at law enforcement, who in turn used tear gas and charged to disperse the crowd.
During those hours, I documented the unfolding events and the massive deployment of law enforcement. A visual testimony of a day that marked a moment of great social and political tension in our country."
