The Mongolia Charity Rally project began as a logistical and documentary challenge: a 16,000 km drive from Rome to Ulan Bator. The initial scope focused on community development, successfully resulting in the Gengis Van Team raising € 12,000.00 for the NGO GoHelp to finance the construction of a library.
During the 2015 Rally, the field reportage documented the case of Mariam, a young Mongolian girl with severe burns on both hands. My team and I launched a dedicated, two-year fundraising effort (2015–2017) to cover the costs of complex corrective surgery in Italy.
This campaign achieved its financial target, enabling Mariam to receive the necessary operations free of charge in May 2017 at the "Santa Maria della Misericordia" hospital in Udine.
Mariam returned to Mongolia two months later to continue her rehabilitation.
